Mr. Li, a retired teacher and middle school principal, lives right across from us. He loves kids and music, himself a violin player and his brother a tenor. Through open windows during the summer, music would flow from his place to mine. Lately he developed a serious hobby in Chinese calligraphy, as you can see from the beautiful Chinese title he wrote for my Neighborhood on the web site.

This picture was taken around 6:30 am from the rear window of my parents' room, when Mr. Li got up to brush his teeth and to get his coffee ready.
