About C. Mei Gallery & Ciming Mei
Ciming Mei is originally from Shanghai, China. While she was a librarian at Northeastern University in Boston in the early 1990s, she bought her first camera for a photography class she took on the side. She has since fallen in love with photography. From there, Ciming's exploration branched into digital imaging, multimedia and graphic design, which eventually led to a career change when she headed west to Salt Lake City.
In 1995, Ciming Mei joined Media Solutions at the University of Utah and worked on a CD-ROM encyclopedia, for which she served the dual roles of Information Specialist and Graphic Designer. A Year later, the team made the multimedia encyclopedia available over the web. She has since been designing and developing web sites non-stop.
For more than a decade, Ciming's professional career as a Multimedia Designer and Developer grows with the booming of the internet and information technology. With her unique background in both information science and visual arts, she has designed and built many web sites and multimedia presentations for various departments at the University of Utah, including The Brain Institute, Center on Aging, University of Utah electronic postcards and screensavers. Her clients extend to KUED (part of PBS) and George S. Eccles Foundation. She has also done extensive photographic work for the University, covering Winter Olympics, campus life, and Home Coming games. Many of her photos have appeared on the University's web sites and print materials.
"While photography captures a lasting memory, web sites come and go yet constantly evolving. This transient nature makes my job interesting and refreshing."

After eleven years in Salt Lake City, Ciming moved to Houston, TX in the fall of 2006 following a family relocation. For details regarding Ciming Mei's professional career, check out her resume.
Ciming and her two kids in Kyoto, Japan (July 2005)"I love to travel. Each trip is an amazing experience. In 2002, I rode more than 100 hours of train across Europe in three months. Most of the images in the current online store result from this memorable trip. Prague and Venice are my favorite, but I'm now adding Kyoto and Nara of Japan where I spent one month there in the summer of 2005.
As for my native land China, my photographic journey there will never end. My focus has been the Jiang Nang region south of the Yangtze River, where branches of water ways and lakes embrace a water country enriched by thousand years of culture. While the traditional landscape and values are disappearing in a country at a fast pace of modernization, I feel fortunate being a photographer to capture a transient moment for a lasting memory.
Thank you for sharing with me a fascinating world I see through my eyes."-- Ciming Mei
